Too many people are just passing through life. To them, it is a chore. There isn’t anything interesting or intriguing, you just wake up and move on. No purpose or goal and everything seems mediocre. The problem is passion. They lack a driving force in their life.

Passion

Passion is a corner stone for a prosperous life. Passion for anything and everything you do. Seek out projects and get involved with them. Feel a personal connection to them. Build value in your life by surrounding yourself with things you care about. The world will look bland if you never look up.

Take on things you care about. It means nothing to fill your life with stepping stones. Don’t seek out a job only because it will lead to a “better one.” That can be a factor but not the factor. That better job may never come and you will settle with what you have.

We have a limited amount of time and there is no need to waste it. Seek out what you are passionate for and don’t be ashamed of it. If you like taking pictures, then take pictures. Don’t spend time thinking about how goofy you look or how bad your photos might be. If your friends and family are important to you, then spend more time with them.

Boredom

Every so often someone will tell me they are constantly bored. They sit around and complain about it and refuse to take a step in a different direction. This is shocking. There are so many opportunities and they can’t even find one that interests them. The problem may be linked to respect.

Respect

Respect your passion and the passion of others. One reason people don’t follow their passion is because they are too worried about what others think. This shouldn’t be an issue. Your passion is for you and no one else. Respect it and pursue it. Passion is solely for the one pursuing it. Don’t judge another’s passion. Let them seek it out and enjoy it.

I have a passion for technology, photography, numbers, writing, movies, and books. What are yours?

Photoshop Express provides users with 2GB of free storage where they can upload, organize, edit, and share photos. Once uploaded, you can change the photo’s titles, captions, descriptions and other information. The can also be organized into albums which can be shared with friends and family.

That is all neat, but the real power is the editing. With Photoshop Express, you can edit any photo that you have uploaded. There are tons of options ranging from cropping and saturation to hue adjustments. When I say powerful, I am not implying that it is comparable to Photoshop CS3. It isn’t anywhere near Photoshop and isn’t trying to be, but it is still great for what it is.

The interface is great. In editing mode, you select the action you want to perform on the left hand side. Then at the top, you can move a slider to change the adjustments. Alternatively, there are a row of thumbnails above the slider showing the affect on the photo. As you hover over these thumbnails, it demonstrates these affects on the actual photos instantly. To apply the affect, just click on the thumbnail. All of the editing in non-destructive and can be changed any time.

Photoshop Express will really shine with consumers. There are many people who want to jazz up their photos but are scared off when it the answer is Photoshop. Photoshop Express makes it insanely simple and cheap for these users to get in on the action. Adobe has done a great job at providing these users with a place to store, edit, and share photos.

My feeling is that this will become Adobe’s gateway to future Photoshop purchases. This will help get people’s feet wet and make them desire more power that Photoshop can deliver. None the less, it is a great web application to have available for those quick and easy edits. Oh, and did I mention that it’s free.

Here is a photo that I tweaked in Photoshop Express.

The original:

After a few enhancements:

Utilizing my creative license:

Last week I made the transition from a point and shoot to a digital SLR camera. After reading many reviews and articles I decided to purchase a Nikon D40.Overall, this camera has been amazing. It exceeds everything that has been said about it and has gotten me more into photography. I have been reading and learning more about the technical aspects of photography and overall it has been an excellent experience. If you have been thinking about purchasing a dSLR, I strongly recommend going to a store and trying them out. Make sure and read reviews to find one that is right for you. I can’t really give a recommendation as this is my first and only dSLR, but I can say that I have been more than happy with my new camera. The site that has helped me out the most on my quest for a dSLR has been KenRockwell.com. The site has great reviews on cameras and also provides excellent user friendly guides on how to access the basic functions of various cameras. The author has written some excellent articles on photography and is overall an excellent resource. If you want to check out the photos I have been taking with the camera, they can be found on my flickr site with the tag Nikon D40. Also go and check out the article I wrote on YourWeb about flickr.
